2008 Recycling and Refuse Collection Information

COLLECTION SCHEDULE: Materials should be placed at the curbside no sooner that 6:00 PM on the day prior to scheduled collection and no later than 6:00 AM. on the day of scheduled collection. Empty Containers or unaccepted materials must be removed from the curb no later than 8:00 PM on the day of scheduled collection.

PAPER, NEWSPAPERS, TIRES, AND WHITE METAL APPLIANCES

Residents are encouraged to dispose of their recyclable paper and newspapers at the D.P.W. Yard on Saturday's between 8:00 AM and 12:00 NOON

Residents must register for the collection of tires and white metal appliances at the Municipal Clerk's Office, 101 Hamburg Turnpike, at least two (2) days prior to the following scheduled tire and appliance collection dates, by calling 973-838-0778 (x241). No messages please.

TIRES: The Borough will accept passenger vehicle tires only. No truck tires will be accepted. Residents must pay a $2.50 disposal fee per passenger vehicle tire when registering.

WHITE METAL APPLIANCES: No fee is charged for the first two (2) appliances registered within a calendar year. A $40.00 disposal fee will be charged for each additional appliance and must be paid in advance.


BRUSH AND YARD WASTE: Tree limbs and twigs must be tied in four (4) foot lengths and placed curbside. No tree trunks or stumps will be accepted.

OIL: Bring to DPW between on Saturday's between 8:00 AM and 12:00 NOON ONLY

GRASS CLIPPINGS ARE NOT COLLECTED: Residents are advised to compost grass clippings or to mulch finely cut grass into their lawns. Do not leave clumps of grass clippings on your lawn or otherwise render your property unsightly in violation of the local Property Maintenance Code.

If your collection day falls on a holiday, your refuse will be collected on your next regularly scheduled collection day.

Refuse must be placed in 33 gallon or smaller plastic or metal cans with a cover.

DPW Hours: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM (Monday to Friday) and 8:00 am to 12:00 PM (Saturdays). (Recycling only)

There will be no garbage drop off at the DWP site. Garbage disposal is at curbside pickup ONLY
