About Bloomingdale Along its tree-lined streets and throughout pristine lake communities, the small Borough of Bloomingdale, originally incorporated in 1918, quietly maintains the values that reinforce American pride. Bloomingdale's collective mindset consistently gives birth to dedicated volunteerism; to support of non-profit organizations; to bragging rights about the Bloomingdale Coronet Band; to the sound of children's laughter during 'Pride Day;' to block parties that keep its neighborhoods strong. Noted for both its active and passive recreational opportunities, Bloomingdale is home to the Norvin Green State Forest, historic DeLazier Field, the The Borough of Bloomingdale is a growing community with stable property values, excellent municipal services, and an enviable location that offers a well-traveled Main Street with traffic far more substantial than many other communities twice its size. The municipality is favorably situated with ready access to Interstate-287, Routes 23 and 46 and Interstate-80. In an effort to capitalize on its superior geographic location, Bloomingdale is enjoying the dawning of a major revitalization effort, coordinated by its municipal government, in cooperation with business and residents. The project is guided by a very active Main Street Revitalization Committee. Since 1999, in excess of $560,000 in grant funding has been acquired to make the revitalization effort and reality. Projects recently completed include the Sloan Park Streetscape Improvements and the Hamburg Turnpike/Main Street Decorative Pedestrian Crosswalk Project. The Borough is committed to providing the highest possible standard of living for its residents, providing top quality municipal services, creating an environment that promotes the growth and success of local businesses and preserving undeveloped open space and improving, enhancing and increasing the recreational opportunities available to residents of the community. community playground at Bogue Pond, various parcels of property on historic Federal Hill (purchased through the State's Green Acres Trust Fund) and various other pocket parks and playgrounds located throughout the municipality. As part of an aggressive grant writing campaign, the Borough has been successful in obtaining more than $1,450,000 in State and County grant funding to purchase property for permanent open space, improve and enhance existing recreational facilities and replace out-dated and unsafe playground equipment.
